100 Wish Quilt

To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is their custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth, along with a wish (or a prayer or blessing) for the new baby. The patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and a 2nd little piece of the cloth (just a little sample) is attached to "the wish" for the child. The quilt symbolizes the prayers and good wishes from all the family and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. Then this sentimental quilt, and corresponding scrapbook of 100 wishes, are passed down from generation to generation. In keeping with this Chinese tradition, we invite you, our sweet friends and family, to "welcome".

We have received several quilt patches along with their wishes, so I will be posting some of them as we get them!

Who is this Lil' Angel who has Stolen Our Hearts?

Well we are happy to announce that we have been blessed with the cutest 3 year old little girl.  We are not biased...it is the truth!

It is amazing that the wait is over and I can see my daughter, I wonder if at this moment she knows about us yet?  How will she react to the news? I know this part of the journey is the toughest for her....the unknown...new family...new country...new language...I just want hold her and reassure her that she will be loved and will be safe and that we can't wait to start this journey together.
I can't believe someone will be calling me MaMa soon!
I know my life is richer now. God has blessed us!

Until then enjoy this poem...

I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...
Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you, my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.
But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let the angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.
