The Definition of Love

 

 A dear friend of mine told me a story of her 86 Uncle that defines Love to me.  'D's Uncle had lost all of his hearing, his wife is his primary caretaker and she is not in the best health.  A short while ago he had surgery for a cochlear implant.

Back to this wonderful story...Her Uncle had the surgery and this week was healed enough to turn the processor on...I am quoting her since she wrote it beautifully... 

'He jumped at first, and then he started smiling.  My Aunt couldn’t go with him to the appointment (she is not in great health, and my Uncle is her main caregiver, so you can imagine what this has done to him losing his hearing).  He looked at my cousin and said, “I want to get home to your mother so I can hear her beautiful voice again”.  He walked in the door, and my aunt says, “Can you hear me?” and he just smiled.  She started crying, he started crying, everyone was just crying!  It was beautiful!'

Now if you are not sure of what the definition of Love is...just read this story over and over...because in my (somewhat jaded at times) book that is Love....
